Hi I AM 37 YRS WITH 28 WKS OF TWIN PREGNANCY AND HAVE ALSO HAD LLETZ ABOUT 05 YRS BACK JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHEN SHOULD I HAVE A DEXA INJECTION AND IS IT NECESSARY TO HAVE IT. MY CERVICAL LENGTH IS OK TILL NOW AND IT IS A PRECIOUS PREGNANCY FOR ME AFTER 12 YRS. THANK YOU.

Dear madam,I understand your concern.In my opinion there is increased risk of preterm labour in twin pregnancy.
Dexamethasone injection is given for lung maturation of fetus if there is any risk of preterm labour.
So in twins there might be preterm labour sometimes so dexamethasone is given prophylactically .
It causes lung maturation and decreases other complications of preterm babies and helps in increasing the survival rate of preterm babies.
