Is it legal for a coworker to e-mail medical updates out about another coworker after their surgery ?

If the person doing the emailing is a member of the medical community involced in the patient's care then yes Its a huge HIPPA violation. If she's just a busy body friend then no, its just immoral. However, if she has some knoweledge of the patient's condition that most don't have hen she may also have permission to do this.
