White rice has mostly starch without much fibre, vitamins and minerals as they are stripped off during milling and polishing of rice. It is fine to consume white rice though brown rice is healthier. You can add fibre from other sources such as fruits, vegetables as raw salads, commercially available wheat bran and bran containing foods like breakfast cereals with added bran. Rice consumption as a part of healthy low fat and high fibre diet does not cause any health problems like diabetes. There are other factors in diet and lifestyle which contribute to increased risk of diabetes and white rice alone is not responsible. So, you can safely consume white rice alongwith other healthy foods and stay physically active to ward off diseases. Hope this answers your query satisfactorily.
