Is it fine to continue GODEX medication in a colon cancer patient?

Hi, can I answer your health question? Please type your question here...I am now on my fifth cycle of my chemo therapy for my colon cancer. I just had my radiation last year and had my operation Jan. this year in which I have a colo bag right now. A routine check for my blood is given every 2 weeks and just found out that my SGPT is high and my potassium is low I was given GODEX for my SGPT and potassium chloride as for medication the problem is that I m always feeling dizzy and having an irregular heartbeat and feeling weak for this matter. SHOULD I CONTINUE TAKING THE MEDICATION?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The symptoms you are describing may come from the changes of the values of the electrolytes in your body. You should surely continue the medication, but also you should see your local doctor to check the values of potassium again and maybe you will need to regulate the dose of Godex. But again, I advise to not do the change of the dose of the medicine yourself, because you need to check the blood tests before you do that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Dr. Papaqako

I am being asked to edit my question I am looking for a Doctor at Cleveland Clinic in Weston Florida, I need a gastroenterologist , I did the colo guard test and it came back Positive. I had a colonoscopy 3 years ago and like 2 or 3 other times before it I have had plops removed many times before. My father and his two brothers (my uncles ) and my grandma all died because of colon cancer and the espohogeical cancer. I moved up here to Pembroke Pines after 30 years of the same doctors but I can t travel back to them it s to far. The two gastro doctors I had up here in Pembroke Pines were awful are awful and I won t be returning to them they are in the same practice and that stands to reason because they miss diagnosed twice. There s more to my story however I am 72 years young and since I was just diagnosed with colon cancer with the cologuard that I knew I had for 5 years already and they all three doctors I used told me I was fine even after my symptoms were awful including having black stool. I can not drive to Fort Lauderdale for my great doctors and I am stuck here in Pembroke Pines and I need help big time. I have Humana Gold now for years and They have been very good with me. In fact my primary wouldn t let me have the cologuard test for 3 years I had been complaining with terrible symptoms but he kept telling me I was fine and I don t have cancer so I don t need the test. OMG so I called Humana and they told me sure and told me to tell him they said to write that RX out and they also called him. Now I need to find a Gastroenterologist Now and forever up here as long as I am alive. I would like a Doctor who practices out of Cleveland Clinic because they have the best doctors I am told. I also have 1 other illness that are serious and 3 more that I need a smart doctor who is proud of his practice and cares about his patients. So please contact me at my email address YYYY@YYYY so that I can call to make an appointment and if you take my healthcare Humana Gold whom I am with for 15 or more years with no problems. I need to find a good doctor who will be my doctor for as long as I am alive. Like I said I also have other issues that needs a gastroenterologist expertise. I don t think this was exactly like a question as much as I need a doctor now because my test came back Positive for Cancer of the colon. So it s not really a question as much as it is a need to find a doctor up here in Pembroke Pines. Respectfully Michelle BE
