Is it fine if a 2year old child receives the vaccine intended at the age of 12 ?

MY 2 year old was given the wrong shot at his Pediatrician s office this morning. Was supposed to get Hep A and got a Meningitis vaccine intended for a 12 year old is there anything to be alarmed about. I know it was approved couple of years ago for younger kids but wondering should I worry?

see vaccines r there forpreventing the diseases from occuring by injection of attenuated /killed organisms/part of organisms ....so in general dont be so anxious ..look for any fever which sometimes follows vaccination... can use calpol syrup for this.... IN C/o more severe states which r usually rare to find consult ur paediatrician for examination of ur child

My son donated blood on 12/21/10. Yesterday he received test results on his blood from the American Red Cross. All tests were negative except for the HTLV-I/II Antibody Screen # 1. The HTLV-I/II Antibody Screen # 2 was negative. My son is 20 and is a college sophomore. I m not sure at what age he became sexually active. He claims that he has known his partners and has always used protection. If he were your son, what would you do to protect him? Should we have further blood work done? The American Red Cross Counselors said this was likely a false positive . About 5 days prior to donating blood my son had the flu vaccine. I m just nervous. I feel it must be serious if they are putting him on the deferred list. Please advise this worried mother. Many thanks!!!

Our son, 28 years old, has Down Syndrome and has also been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) since he was about 9 years old. He had chickenpox when he was five and shingles when he was about 12. We are concerned he could get shingles again, so we would like him to receive the Zostavax vaccination. He is not currently on steroids that lead to suppression of the immune system, but it may be necessary the next time he has a flare of IBS (he has been on prednisone infrequently for past flares and was on 6-MP for a long period although this has been discontinued in the last 2 years). The current recommendation is to not vaccinate under 50 years old, and the reason appears to be cost vs effectiveness (it costs too much vs it won t vaccinate for more than a few years or it won t protect a high enough percentage of people from the disease). Or is there another reason? Our GP and GI doctors have prescribed the vaccination but we can t find anyone who will go outside the CDC/ACIP guidelines and recommendations of age. Can you shed any light on this? Even medical journal citations that discuss this would be good.

My name is Michael Morin, and I m 54 years old. At the age of 24, I was diagnosed with a heart condition. I was told I had heart disease that was similar to an 80 year old. I also had diabetes. I had just left the Marine Corps Reserve a year earlier. I joined the Marines at age of 17. I received a number of vaccinations in boot camp, one of which was the smallpox vaccine. When I left boot camp for R and R, I went home where joined in a game of pick up football. I began to have tightness in my chest and I was short of breath. I used to believe my problem developed from some sort of virus I got from the air-jet vaccination gun the service used, but now after speaking to one doctor by chance. Now I believe my problems were from the smallpox vaccination. I have been fighting an up hill battle with the Veterans Administration on compensation and treatment for the past 30 plus years, because of the lack of help from the medical field. I need to fine evidence and were to fined it. Who know more about what adverse effects smallpox vaccines cause and who can help me with my case. Thank you, Michael Morin

I have several small itchy bumps in skin for past 5 or so days.. At first, I thought mosquito bites. The first one is blistered right now. I just noticed an itchy red spot on my neck. They re individual bumps - 3 on right arm, 1 on neck, I on back of head, 1 on chest. I m 63, had the shingles vaccine, and they re itchy, not painful. Wondering what it could be... Also, I care for 92 year old mother and 11 month old grandson often. Could I have something contagious?
