Is It Dangerous To Give 5 PCV Vaccines To A Child?

Hi. I was filling out immunization forms for my son for Early Childhood Education last night, and realized he recieved 5 PCV vaccines instead of 2-4. He recieved 3 PCV-7's and 2 PCV-13's. I feel terrible that I didn't keep track..but what do I do? Do I need to be worried?

Thanks for posting your query at HealthCareMagic. PCV or Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine is given for protection against pneumococcal infections. PCV-7 protects against 7 strains whereas PCV-13 protects against 13 strains including the ones covered by PCV-7. Do not worry. The 5 doses will not cause any harm.

Hope that helps. Feel free to revert back in case of further queries if any.

Pediatrician Dr. Suresh K Yadav's  Response
Hi
Welcome to HCM
You have not mentioned age of these vaccinations to your baby.Otherwise also in most recommended immunization schedules like Indian Academy of pediatrics guidelines child receives 4 doses of PCV at 6,10,14 weeks and booster at 1.5 years of age . I do not think there is any reason for worry . If you follow exact dates and age of your child , I may be able to better answer you .In my opinion you need not worry .

Hope I answered your query ,
thanks
