Hi my daughter is 13 years old and we found out at the hospital yesterday that she had an ear infection and a perforation in some sort of membrane in her ear. She was very prone to ear infections as a younger child, but we haven t dealt with this before. It s been leaking blood and fluid as well and she s taking eardrops, antibiotics and strong narcotic pain medication. We are going on a vacation at the end of June and are wondering if she will be able to fly and swim. Thanks
Your daughter is suffering from acute infection in ear which might lead to ear drum perforation as per your information. It is better if you delay air travel till it get cured and swimming is not at all advisable nor it is in favor of ear health during ear infection. Keep ear hygiene and keep cotton at ear canal entry. First get it cured and then reschedule your future travel.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
