Is It Advisable To Stop Crestor?

Hello Doc!! My name is Marshall and have been thinking about Stopping My Prescription for Crestor? I just got a Clean bill of Health after having TURP Procedure and have continued to Lose Weight from a Better Regimen and Diet? Any Problems that could Arise Doc?

Hi Marshall. This is something you need to discuss with your doctor. It would depend on the reasons you were prescribed the Crestor in the first place. You would need to have your cholesterol studies evaluated, and if you do go off it, they would have to be followed up periodically to be sure they don't get bad again. Your improved diet and weight loss may allow you to get off the Crestor, but you need to follow the blood tests to be sure. Sometimes people produce too much cholesterol regardless of their diet, and need to continue on medicine to control it. Hope this helps.
