Is Is Safe To Switch From Estradiol Valerate Pills To Injection?

I am a 56 year old transsexual woman that is currently on 6MG of Estradiol Pills taken sublingually every day and 5MG of Finasteride taken once a day. I am considering switching to Estradiol Valerate IM injections at 40MG 10ml injected once a week. My doctor has done blood work the other day and is waiting on the results before he prescribes any increased dosage or change in administration of hormones. The pills are really not doing much for me, I have been on them for over 6 years now. Is changing to injections going to matter? I keep hearing that injections will give better results in feminization and breast growth.

Hi,

Estrogen injections tend to cause very high and fluctuating estrogen levels which can cause mood swings, weight gain, hot flashes, anxiety or migraines. If injections are used, it should be at a low dose and with awareness of uncomfortable side effects.

Taking high doses does not necessarily make changes happen quicker it could, however can endanger your health. To monitor your health while on estrogen, your doctor will periodically check your liver functions and cholesterol and screen you for diabetes.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
