Is Irregular Skin Discoloration Related To Lipoma?

I have a relatively large lipoma on my right forearm that has been there for 12+ years. Within the last two weeks I have noticed irregular discoloration on the skin s surface over the lipoma that is not associated with any illness or injury. Could the discoloration be related to the lipoma or something else?

Hi. welcome to HCM
given your history of a long standing large lipoma, it is very possible that the discolouration is related. It may be due to increase in the size causing bits of bleeding in your skin causing colour changes. Or the stretching of the skin over it. The sweling maybe putting pressure on the skin.
Also there maybe changes within the lipoma itself or its consistency since its been so long.
I would advise you to get it checked and scanned to look for changes underneath and consider removal if necessary . A testing of the lesion tissue can be done to confirm.
Do also consider the possibility of an injury or force over it which you may not have noticed when it occured. Do not ignore it if its persistent.
