Is Inhaling Fumes From A Decomposing Dead Body Dangerous?
My tenant died in his apartment and was there for a week before we found him. My husband want to clean out his room. Is it safe to inhale fumes from a dead body that was decomposing? I am a little scared that my husband may contract something. I need some advice. Thank you.
Yes it is dangerous. A decomposed body material is a very good media for the growth of numerous pathogenic organism. Which can be easily contracted via air, dust or direct contact while cleaning the area. It is wiser to spray disinfectant from a distance and after a few hours cleaning the area with proper protections like gloves, face mask, specs , cap and boot upto knee. And after cleaning the area incinerate or burry all the clothes along with thorough body wash.
