Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, So I have heated up some food in the oven. After eating I realized there was a strange smell in the kitchen - apparently one of my roommates dropped a plastic tablecloth on the oven door and it melted slightly and wasn t cleaned up. Will it have released any toxic fumes that have been absorbed by my food that could cause me harm? I ate about 30 minutes ago. I have a cold and a blocked nose - which is why I didn t smell it earlier and why I wasn t paying attention to how clean the oven was. I have had slight anxiety in the past - which is why I think this is panicking me. Can you help? Thanks.
Thanks for writing to Health Care magic, I am Dr , Muhammad Ahmad , I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem.
In this scenario usually there is no chance of food absorbing any toxic fumes, for food to absorb toxic fumes they need to be many and food needs to be exposed to them for quite a long time. I would suggest you not to panic and stay calm until you feel any problem which i am quite sure that you wont face.
Drink much water and don't panic everything should be fine soon.
I hope this answered your question, If you have more queries I am happy to answer you. Regards.
