Is Inability To Locate Fetal Pole During Trans Vaginal Ultrasound Normal?

I went to the er last night and they did a Trans vaginal ultrasound they said I m measuring 6 weeks 1 day . There was a good size gestational sac and very clear yolk sac and a very small fetus that we could only see at certain angles she tried to get a fetal pole but we could find one yet is this normal . I believe from ovulation I was only 5 weeks 4 days .

welcome to Health care magic.
1.Normal timings for one to evaluate fetal pole and cardiac activity trans vaginally from 5.5weeks , 6.5weeks trans abdominally.

2.In early scan when it is around 5 weeks, fetal pole focusing can be little difficult.
3.In this case what you have to do is, get a followup scan in 2 weeks for confirmation of viable pregnancy.

4.If fetal pole do not appears after 2 weeks - it can be diagnosed as blighted ovum

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
