Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

In my opinion, genital herpes can transmitted by contact with contaminated genital secretions. The chances of acquiring infection is more prone when infected person is suffering from outbreak. If I were your consulting doctor, I would like to advise your partner for herpes test. After the test result, line of treatment can be defined. It is also advisable for you to have safe sex (use of condom), so that transmission of herpes can be prevented.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
