Is Herpes A Sexually Transmitted Disease?

I have hailey hailey skin disease.it is broke out in the genital area and I have a herpes virus with this. Is this the same virus that you get when you have sex with someone that has it. I have not been with anyone else do I have to avoid sexual contact?

Thank you for query.Herpes simplex virus is of two types 1 and 2. Both can be transmitted by sexual route(STDs).HSV1 can also get transmitted by skin to skin contact or by kiss.It is preferable to have single partners.You can avoid intercourse when there are active lesions.Protectives like condoms may be used.
