Is Hemoglobin Level Of 10 A Cause For Concern?

I WAS ON 2 CYCLES OF ANTIBIOTICS. THE FIRST CYCLE WAS FOR AN INFECTION FROM A PUNCTURE WOUND FROM A CAT S CLAW ALMOST IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY A UTI. MY HEMOGLOBIN LEVEL WAS 12 3 MONTHS AGO AND IS NOW 10. WHAT ARE THE CHANCES THAT THE LOW LEVEL WAS DUE TO THE ANTIBIOTICS

I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

Your hemoglobin is slightly decreased. Antibiotics doesn't cause this. This reduction may be due to acute illness. Many times acute illness can reduce your hemoglobin. Don't worry much about that. If it remains persistent then go for peripheral smear examination.

a lot of factors other than antibiotics that you are using need to be considered. Heamoglobin of 10 is not too bad and it's not likely that the antibiotics are the one lysing your blood. if u intend to build your haem level, with all other factors being constant, adequate diet, excercise and lots of water will go a long way in helping.
