Is Heavy, Frequent And Long Periods After 40 Years Normal?

I am a woman over 40, I had 3 full term pregnancies and sterilization after the last. I have been having menstrual cycles every 2 weeks or so and this last cycle started 11 days ago and today I am suddenly bleeding quite heavy again. Is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Heavy bleeding can occur during the perimenopausal time. However, it is important to undergo a pelvic examination and pelvic ultrasound to rule out any uterine/ovarian pathology. So please follow up with your ObGyn for the necessary evaluation.

Hope this answers your query
