Is Heavy Bleeding Normal After Stim Ivf?

Hello, I had a ivf cycle using Gonal f 450 iu and Luveris 150 iu. My follicule ponction was on March 8th. I started taking Prometrium vaginal capsules 3times a day and Estrace 3times a day on March 9th. On March 14, I learned there would be nô transfer so I stopped the meds. On March 18 I had bleeding for about 5 days, not a heavy bleed. Thénar on March 29, a really heavy blood flow started and lots of clothing. I had to change tampons every hour. This stopped after 36 hours. Then after 4 days of break, blood flow again, red and heavy but need to change tampon every 2.5 hours. There is stil some flots but much smaller. Is this normal after stim ivf?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thank you so much for this follow up precision.

I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported. Stimulation would normally cause the uterinelinning to thicken a great deal in preparation for possible implantation. Because this never happened, the lining would need to break down. This is responsible for the huge amount of bleeding. This is not totally unexpected but profuse bleeding can have complication of low blood volume and anemia. Talk to your doctor about this for correctional measures should the severity be too concerning.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information should need be.
