Is Hashimotos Related With Hyperthyroidism, Sweating And Constipation?

I have a family history of hashimotos disease in my family. I had my tsh levels checked a few weeks ago and they were 1.052... i was told 6 years ago that i had a hyperthyroid and thats why i was having trouble gaining weight...in the last 18 months i have gained almost 30 pounds severe muscle aches, anxiety, depression, bouts of diarrehea and constipation, hot flashes, night sweats, and hair loss, also had an ultrasound done a few weeks ago also and found 2 nodules on my thyroid. My pcp just wants to follow up in 6 months but i really feel something is wrong...what should i do? do you think this could be hashimotos and is it hereditary?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Hashimoto thyroiditis can run in families that can be hereditary. Initially, the presentation will be hyperthyroid later on it will go to hypothyroidism.

Gaining of weight, depression may be related to Hypothyroidism symptoms. Please check for thyroid values, your TSH will go high.

Presence of nodules in the thyroid gland may indicate regenerating tissue to provide more thyroid hormones. My suggestion is to please consult endocrinologist or physician with latest thyroid hormonal reports.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siddartha
