Hello. I made out with a girl a while back, and I am not sure of her status. I know that my gums bleed when I brush, and I m not sure if hers do. I got tested about 5 weeks (33 days to be exact) after this incident (For a completely unrelated incident that happened 3 months before). The results were negative what was my risk, and what are the chances my test is going to change if I go back in 2 months?
Hi, Welcome to HCM. Bleeding gums is not an hiv/253657?iL=true" >AIDS defining illness. It can occur with anyone with or without HIV. Your test for HIV is negative 33 days after the sexual encounter. But you had not mentioned what type of test you had undergone. If it is an antigen based test (DNA PCR, P24 antigen test) or a combo/duo fourth generation test, then your result is conclusive and you need no further test. Otherwise (antibody based test) you have to repeat the test 12 weeks after that encounter to be sure about your HIV status. Dr S.murugan
