Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Gonorrhea is a contagious disease transmitted caused by bacterium 'Neisseria gonorrhoeae' most often through sexual contact with an infected person. Both men and women can get gonorrhea.
Gonorrhea can also be spread by contact with infected bodily fluids, and a mother could pass on the infection to her newborn during childbirth.
The infection is easily spread and occurs most often in people who have many sex partners.
Not all people infected with gonorrhea have symptoms. To diagnose gonorrhea, the doctor will use a swab to take a sample of fluid from the urethra in men or from the cervix in women. It is advisable that all the sexual partners be tested.
Gonorrhea can be treated and cured by administration of a course of appropriate antibiotics.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.

Hello,my name is Dr Dorina Gurabardhi.Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease that can infect both men and women. It can cause infections in the genitals, rectum, and throat. It is a common infection. It can be cured. Most of the time, urine can be used to test for gonorrhea. In case you are diagnosed with gonorrea you can treat it with antibiotics. It’s important to take the full course of pills to ensure that your infection is completely treated. Cutting your course of antibiotics short can make the bacteria more likely to develop resistance to the antibiotic.
