Is Giving Predcort DS Safe For Nasal Congestion And Chronic Cough To Child?

I would like to know how does Predcort DS help my son who experiences nasal discomfort almost every night as well as a heavy chest cough (Dog Barking Cough). He sneezes for about half to a whole minute without stopping. Then he begins to hawk and haul for about the same amount of time. He is eleven years old, 4ft 2in and weights 60lbs. He has been experience symptoms of allergies for many years especially to dust and other allegens in the air. He has been taking: Klaricid, Brohex, Histal and the Predcort DS for several years;are there any other medicines that could be considered? Thank You for you for your assistance in this regard.

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of nasal congestion and chronic cough which is due to upper respiratory tract infection and common flu like allergic reaction. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take few preventive measures such as you should take cough expectorants. Taking Montair is safe to use. You should take anti inflammatory medication such as Levocetirizine. Visit Pediatrician once and get it examined. You should get blood test done. You should get an x ray of the chest and pulmonary function tests done as well. You should use throat lozenges and go rinses with warm saline water. You should Chew a Vitamin C pellet. Take decongestants and mucolytic agents. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Take diet rich in vitamin B12. You should take antibiotics such as Levofloxacin or Azithromycin for 5-7 days.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
