I recently received blood work results which indicated my total protein count was high (9.1 g/dl). My primary care physician then ordered a few other labs including a serum electrophoresis. The results of that test indicated my gamma globulins are elevated (2.79 g/dl). My Lambda flc was elevated, however the kappa/lambda ratio was within standard range. I understand that the gamma globulins are the antibodies and when elevated can indicate inflammation or disease. Is 2.79 a serious range? I am scheduled to see a hematologist, but until my appointment I want to become as informed as possible. I am also anemic and have tested positive for ANA since 2000. Since that time, I have been told by medical professionals that I have a predisposition for autoimmune conditions, although I have not had enough symptoms to be diagnosed.
