Is Frequent Urination A Symptom Of UTI?

I think I have a UTI but I am not sure because I have not had one before. I have the frequent urge to urniate but little to no urine comes out. The sensation of needing to urniate does not stop but my urine is clear and I have no lower back pain. Is this a UTI, if so I have clarithromycin 500mg tablets would these help? I can not see a doctor for a week or so

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Yes frequent urge to urinate can be a symtom of UTI (urinary tract infection). In this patient often feels to urinate & urine comes very little on occasions. But frequent urination with increased quantity of urine passed is not symptom of UTI, this is often due to increasedwater consumption, use of diuretics & kidney disease. In UTI, There may be burning sensation during urination or pain in lower abdomen along with this.
A UTI is best diagnosed by a urine examination. Presence of red blood cells, pus cells & epithelial cells in urine will suggest infection in urine. Then you could take antibiotic like norfloxacin or ciprofloxacin for it.
In meantime you could increase your water intake (to 4-6 liters per day) & maintain hygiene in genital-urinary area. These things would help to check infection.

Refer to a urologist/general physician
Hope this information helps
