Is Frequent Chest Pain Caused Due To Stress?

Hi, I have been experiencing random chest pain. It is around my heart and it comes and goes, but when stressed I can feel a dull pain, almost as if its going to happen. I can t describe the pain, but it varies in intensity, to where there is slight pain that bothers me to extreme pain that makes me sit down or lay down until it is over. It started about a year ago, but recently has been occurring more and more often. I thought it could be caused by stress because my stress levels have increased this school year, but it has been happening even when I do not feel stressed.

Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.
If symptoms persist better to consult a cardiologist and plan for an ECG to rule out cardiac causes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
