Is Flying Safe While Suffering From A Subdural Haematoma?

My father is 86. He fell and had a subdural haematoma 3 years ago and is planning a trip. He would like to know if it is safe to travel via airplane from South America to Los Angeles. He has had no problems for the past 2 years. Is it safe for him to fly?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

He can safely fly without any concerns. A subdural hematoma is not a contraindication for flight and it will not worsen the condition.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
