Is Fluid Discharge From A Third Degree Burn A Cause For Concern?

Gasoline 3rd degree burn top of foot. Dr gave my dad silver sulfadiazine cream. He was told to keep it on all day/night and not to cover. It s watering a little and swells up. Arch of foot starting to hurt and bruise. This happened this past Monday, he got I m to see the Dr the same day. He s concerned there s more going on because he was not explained very much of what to expect. So to his surprise when it started watering, he thought there was something very wrong. From looking things up, I found it s normal to water but I don t know for how long. I don t understand why it does this and what happens there after. Please give me some clarification. Thank you

Hi.
As per your case history of burns, my treatment advice is -
1. Fluid discharge is definitely a poor sign.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on affected skin.
3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
