Is Eosinophil Count Of 12.6 A Cause For Concern?

I was concerned about my blood work results I received at the doctors' office today. The doctor didn't comment on my Eosinophils levels. However, I noticed that the passed two years the readings were showing l.7 , 2.7. This visit it read 12.6. I had just come off of a medication for my stomach. I have IBS. I was wondering if that could have caused the increase. However, I remember my doctor asked my how my Asthma was doing. Then he check my heart and lungs and said everything was fine. I do have a lot of allergies also. I've been working in the yard a lot this summer. What do you think? Should I be concerned if my doctor didn't even bring this up?

Hi welcome to health care magic....

Your eosinophil count is very high....

Your AEC level also should be checked....

Your heart and lung function normal, so for that you might had done investigation with chest x ray, spirometry and EKG....

Now you have mentioned history of repeated allergy.... So allergy can lead high eosinophils....
Pulmonary eosiniphilia, parasitic infection, asthma, allergic rhinitis, skin allergy, eczema, malignancy etc are some causes...
So according to cause specific treatment has to be given...

For allergy inflammation Allegra or short term steroid helpful...

Take care

Advise : Physician consultation for examination and further work up....
