Is Emergency Contraceptive Pill Effective In Controlling Pregnancy?

I had sex with my boyfriend last night.. The condom broke and he came inside of me. We bought ECP in the morning because we knew the condom broke. Later in the day, more than 12 hours after having sex, I went to the restroom and the top part of the condom was stuck inside of my vagina, but came out when I used the bathroom. I have been taking birth control for the last 3 months, although this month I haven t been consistence when taking it. I was just wanting to know if with taking ECP I would be okay even though there was still part of the condom stuck inside me, which would ve had ejaculate and pre-ejaculate. I appreciate any help, as I have been really stressed over this. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello,
i can understand your concern.
do not worry. the emergency contraceptive pill(should contain levonorgestrel 1.5mg) you have taken would definitely be effective even though the condom was left behind.
it is an emergency pill which implies that it is effective against unprotected sex(the male ejaculates inside the female).
i would advise continuing your birth control pills from next cycle as you had been taking earlier.
hope i have answered your concerns.
feel free to ask further queries.
thanks for choosing HCM.
