Is Elevated Muscle Pain And Headache Related To Progressive Nature Of Dystonia?

I have right hemiplegic CP. In late 1995 I was diagnosed as also having secondary dystonia affecting the same muscles. In recent months, increased musle pain has been recurring in my right chest region, and this morning I woke to a headache distinctly felt in the left half of my head, more so toward the rear of that side. It has persisted all day. It this related to or likely to be caused by the progressive nature of the dystonia? Note, I have been noticing a periodic frequency of headaches confined to the left hemisphere, but they have typically come and gone within an hour or two. However, the one today has persisted all day, and it is now 4 PM. Faithfully yours, Andrew Steers

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.
As per your history there is possibility of headache due to migraine.
Migraine usually involves half part of your head.
Pain is severe and aggravated by triggering factors like fast, irritant smell, travelling.

If you were my patient, I would clinically confirm diagnosis.
After clinical examination, medications for migraine like sumatriptans can be started consulting your doctor.

Another possibility of headache due to hypertension, but it is not unilateral.
You can check your blood pressure consulting your doctor.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
