Is Ejection Fraction Of 15% A Cause For Concern?

My EF is 15%. I just started entresto and am very pleased with results. I also am having pain from a stress fracture in my tibia. Monitoring my fluid intake and sodium intake has successfully kept me out of the hospital. Also taking Coreg and co q 10 and magnesium. Lots of trouble sleeping. Going to cardiac rehab 3x week. For week or so I have been feeling sad; even though I truly believe my EF will increase and eventually will get back to normal. What could be causing sad feelings and anything I can do to lessen?

Hello,

An EF of 15% is quite low, but you are right that with cardiac rehab and the right medications can help the heart to pump better, and I hope this is the case for you.

As for your feelings of sadness, it may be that you are suffering from depression. This may be affecting your sleep as well. I would recommend you talk with your doctor about this next time you see them and they may want to start you on a medication that can help with your mood and sleep.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
