Is Dry Throat With White Spot At The Back Of Throat With History Of Tonsilectomy Serious?

i had my tonsills out when I was 12, 26 years ago, because i had had throat boils three times already byt then. I had another one 4 years ago when I caught a cold abroad. No when I get a cold my thraot can get a bit irritated but not any lasting pain. Until 6 days ago. I woke up with a mild throat pain than slowly got a bit worse, I was better for one day but it came back. I feel dry and my throat hurts on one side. I also see that I have a white spot (like a zit) at the back of my throat. Now shall I treat this just as flue or call a doctor?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain as you have cold that is a viral infection and can very much infect the throat too causing sore throat..
A white spot over the throat can be a pus pocket that is due to secondary bacterial infection in throat along with viral infection..
Nothing to worry as although you have got tonsils removed still there can be infection in throat causing Pharyngitis..

I would suggest you to take a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles, do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
Chew Vitamin C pellet and suck throat lozenges..
In case if there is cold and congestion decongestant nasal sprays containing Xylometazoline and oral pseudoephadrine can be taken along with other advised medicines..
Avoid chilled and spicy foods..
Sip on plenty of warm water..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
