Is Driving Safe While On Medrol?

Thanks. The ER yesterday prescribed Medrol 4 mg tablets 6/5/4/3/2/1 day 1/2/3/4/5/6. I am on day one. It has considerably relieved my lower back and left leg pain (I had disk fusion and disk replacement 2.5 yrs ago). However, the drug is having effects. Nausea, loss of appetite, sweating. should I go to work tomorrow (day 2). my work requires considerable driving. can I stop taking the medication after 2-3 days?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I understand your concern. One of the common side effects of Medrol also include dizziness, blurred vision, as well as trouble thinking, speaking and walking. Given the possibility of these side effects, I would advise you to refrain from driving during the time you are on this medication. I do not recommend you stop the medication earlier than prescribed by your doctor.
Although, I understand that transportation to work can be an issue, but finding an alternative means of transportation for the time being would be the sensible thing to do. Also, driving for a considerable amount of time is not beneficial for your lower back and leg ailment.

Wishing you good health and all the best.
