Is Doctor Consultation Advisable For A Child With High Fever?

my daughter is 12 and has a fever of 102.3 2hrs after meds. I currently have a cold washcloth on her forehead. she has chills and now is hot, no nausea or vomiting. does complain of headache. at what point should I take her to the dr? she was recently around a classmate that had pneumonia.

Yes doctor consultation is advisable for a child with high fever to find out cause of fever. 102 body temperature is high & that too after taking medicine. This is abnormal & should be because of some infection in your child. Normally pneumonia is not contagious & doesn't spread from one child to other child in classroom.

So you should consult a doctor for this problem
