Is Discontinuing Of Thyroxine Tablets Advisable After Open Heart Surgery?

I have been taking Thyroxine Sodium tablets (50mcg) for several years. Last year I had open heart surgery followed by a bed sore which persisted for four months. I had many medicines including several antibiotics. The thyroid tests which I had done during and after these health problems have been normal. I do have some swelling in the ankle areas and serious loss of hair on a daily basis. My medical doctor has advised me to discontinue the thyroid treatment. What do you advise me to do? Please answer promptly if possible. Thank you. YYYY@YYYY

Hopefully this information will guide you properly.
