Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i'm a 33 year old male, 5'10'' 90Kg, I hurt my back when i was younger (16) playing soccer when someone fell on me. Now in my 30's I have experienced loss of feeling in my legs during exercise such as jogging, it returns slowly once stopped. I was given psyiotherapy to strengthen the muscles in my back and this has helped. If i sit/stand/lay in an akward position for too long i experience lower back pain (i am used to this) however lately this has been accompanied by immediate diahorrea with the back pain occuring first. My question is are these two things related and is there something simple i should be doing to manage the situation
Dear friend, first of all there is no such relationship between diarrhoea and low back pain.and as fas your back pain profile is concerned, your past trauma you experienced while playing is doing havoc on your back bone.we have a large nerve namely by sciatic nerve which goes down from hip to our two legs.so,weak muscles of back are causing pressure on this nerve .that is precisely why you are feeling weak in your legs .due to same reason taking rest causes our back muscles and nerves ralax.to reduce the pain you should start back muscle strengthening exercise regimen.also stop lifting heavy weight putting pressure on back.dont lean bent forward too much unnecessarily.
