Is Diagnosis Of Ocular Migraines Prior To A Cataract Surgery A Concern?

10 weeks ago I met with an opthalmologist to discuss cataract surgery. after an extensive exam I waited in the waiting room for the surgery scheduler and while there experienced an opthalmic migraine. I have had these every day since and they last much longer than 30 minutes. For 3 weeks after my exam I also had 3 floaters which finally went away. I am scheduled for cataract surgery in 2 weeks but have not talked to this doctor since my first visit/ How concerned should I be about these migraines? There is no accompanying headache but some slight nausea.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Cataract surgery doesn't have any relationship with the opthalmological migraine as such and for them you should consider a neurologist and get a course of Sumatriptan. But if you have significant cataract go ahead with the surgery.

Hope it helps.
