Is Depression Associated With Delayed Menstruation?
Hello. So my girlfriend has been super stressed out for the past month and I ve seen it start to affect her. Her sister moved away and her step dad left her. She also just started school and is being loaded with work. She also has sports practice 4 hours each day and she doesn t eat much or get good sleep. She has also mentioned that her period should becoming but she hasn t felt any of the symptoms. We are pretty sure it s not pregnancy because we have never had sex or have never come close to having sex. So could all those other factors be part in her period not being when expected and if so how can I help her
hello, yes, depression and any kind of severe mental stress can lead to irregularities in menstruation like delay or preponement.it all occurs due to hormonal disturbances.moreover,i would like to mention the fact that normal menstrual cycle can occur every 21 to 35 days and lasts for 5 to 7 days. Eating disorders — such as anorexia nervosa — extreme weight loss and increased physical activity can disrupt menstruation.consult your health care provider if: Your periods suddenly stop for more than 90 days — and you're not pregnant
