Is Constipation Normal During Pregnancy?

I am 30weeks pregnant..yesterday I went to the bathroom (#2) many times and was raw. Today I was constipated and when I finally went I has a very whit ball of something in the toilet. I have been cramping throughout the day and night but not anything new in this pregnancy. Is this just normal or should I worry?

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Any alteration in the bowel habit should be carefully monitored and attended to immediately during pregnancy. Persistent cramping is not a good sign either. Please report the matter to your health care provider to check if you have entered any threatened preterm labor and therefore need hospitalization for monitoring. Meanwhile, take adequate rest, preferably in the left lateral position, avoid lifting weights and stress. Take adequate liquids and easily digestible diet. Wish you safe motherhood.
