Is Complex, Growing Cyst In Kidney Post Partial Nephrectomy A Cause For Concern?

I had a partial nephrectomy on the right kidney in 2012 and for the last year and a half I have a complex cyst on the same kidney, the cyst grew from 2.2cm to 2.8cm but my urologist wants to continue to monitor it, should I consult with an oncologist?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
What was the indication for partial nephrectomy on the right kidney?
If the previous lesion in the right kidney was malignant, then the chances of the current cyst to be malignant is likely.
However, if the previous lesion was a benign cyst then there is possibility of recurrence of cyst again.
Such cysts are monitored as suggested by your clinician.
Surgical intervention will be required if clinically indicated.
You can stay in touch with your urologist.
Consultation with oncologist will be required only when the cyst in kidney turns out to be due to neoplastic etiology.

Thanks and take care
