Is Colonoscopy The Right Treatment Method For Blood In Stool?
Father-in-law age 103 + in good health, does not take medication. Has been passing small amount of blood in urine and bowel movements. Dr. wants to do a colonoscopy. We think this test is too much for him. What would you do if he were your father??? Thanks. Arline Harkrider YYYY@YYYY
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern. Blood in stool can be due to many reasons 1 Hemorrhoids( piles) is most common, they are swollen blood vessels in anus or rectum. 2 Anal fistulas is a tear in intestine caused by hard stool passage 3 Rarely it may be colon cancer. This possibility is more in elderly persons
Colonoscopy should be done to rule out possibility of colon cancer, Hence your doctor wants to do colonoscopy
Don't worry he would be fine Hoping your query is solved
