Is Colonoscopy Needed In Case Of Diarrhea And Cramping?

50 y/o male. Diarrhea and cramping x 2 1/2 weeks (green muddy stool after one week of explosive watery diarrhea x 10 daily). Stool exam x 2 has trace WBC and o/w negative. Cultures pending. C dif. Neg x 2. No fever.

Colonoscopy recommended.

Would capsul endoscopy be an alternative?

Hello,

Anyone over the age of 50 years should have a screening colonoscopy. I would recommend colonoscopy over capsule endoscopy, especially in the case of diarrhea.
