Is Clear, Watery Discharge Normal After A Septoplasty?

I had septoplasty last Tuesday. Recovery is going well with no complications, except the last 2 days I ve experienced drippings, clear water droplets, from both sides. I ve been wiping so much that I ve got nose as red as Rudolph not to mention irritated skin. Is it allergies related or what is causing this water drip?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Clear fluid discharge from nose after septoplasty can be due to irritation of nasal mucus membrane / allergy or some problem on surgery itself. I would advise for earliest check up by the operating surgeon for pin pointing the cause and prompt treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
