Is Claritin Sufficient To Treat Hives In An Infant?

my 21 months old daughter who is well woke up with hives all over her body on Friday morning. the doctor said to give her clarotin and stayed away from fruit yogurt. she also said that my daughter's left ear is really red. i gave her clarotin on Friday evening and Saturday morning, she woke up with hives that were almost disappearing the whole day. She went to bed that night and Sunday morning, she woke up with hives that are bigger that Friday and on most part of her body. Bathed her at night with warm water with a little bit of lavender and chamomile baby soap and while she is in the bathtub, i saw some new spots starting to pop through on her feet and from of her legs. any help on what my daughter is going through right now? she has now fever and is not sick but when i pressed on a red spot on her skin, she gets uncomfortable and tried to push my hand away. my daughter had a flu shot about a week ago on Friday when she woke up with hives the first time.

Hello. In the treatment of urticaria in addition to antihistamine(as loratadine that your daughter is taking) sometimes is needed to use a corticosteroid by mouth such as prednisolone drops. Also, if your daughter has a fever you should go to an Emergency Service.I wish you good health.
