Is Chest Pain After Consuming Protein Products A Cause For Concern?

My chest/ heart feels very tight after I drink a protein shake or eat something like a protein bar. It feels like someone is squeezing on it. It hearts alot please help. I have lots of allergies but don t think it has to do with that and hopefully it doesn t. This usually happens often but then it goes away. But recently I had a shake and it began to hurt alot and feel very tight. Please help I don t know what to do or if I should go to my parents or go see a doctor.

Hi,

I am of the opinion that you must be drinking the shake with a sudden gush which is causing the problem.

You need to first drink little water and moisten the dry throat and then drink the shake slowly sip by sip and not at one go.

You could visit the physician to check if you are having reflux of the food that you eat.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Riyanka Chail, General & Family Physician
