Is Burning Sensation Around The Rib Cage Radiating Towards Heart A Cause For Concern?

I have been feeling a burning sensation around my rib cage that radiates towards my heart. I am afraid that I am having a heart attack. But, was encouraged to take a gas x to rule out gas. I took two tablets about two hours ago and while the pain has dissipated a bit, its still noticeable. Should I hurry to the emergency room or wait another day?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be concerned about any chest pain.

Heart related pain tends to be central, tight/heavy and associated with shortness of breath, palpitations, excess sweating.
These typical symptoms may not occur in all but in the majority.

If you are concerned regarding a heart related pain then it would be best to be assessed by a doctor soon.

It would best for this to be ruled out.

I hope this helps
