Is Bronchitis Contagious?

my wife had contact with her 30 year old son 3 days ago. He has bronchitis and received treatment at the er. She just got out of the hospital 3 weeks ago . She had a bad uti and nearly died. She is doing better and appeared to have her strength back. This afternoon she felt really tired and laid down for a nap at 2:00pm. Now she sounds like she is getting a cold. Should I take her to the doc or er. I am at work and will not be home for 4 hours. Should I check her temp? I already check her blood press and ox every day so I have a history of what it should be. We are 66 years old.

Hello,

If your wife already had a bad UTI and hopefully recovered, then, I'm sure she was prescribed antibiotics. Sometimes, these antibiotics will also treat bacterial bronchitis in case she got it.

There are a few reasons for which she is tired and feeling like getting a cold:

- supporting her 30 years old son hospitalized for bronchitis
- experiencing a bad UTI and all these happen while she is 66 years old, so she is not that strong to face all that. Hopefully she did. Now, she needs to rest more.

Check her temperature, give paracetamol or ibuprofen. Give plenty of fluids (juice, tea, chicken soup, water with oral rehydration salts). If she will not get better, then, send to the ER.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
