Is Blotting Of Stomach Normal While Taking Flucloxacillin For Leishmaniasis?
Hi, I ve just come back from living in the Central American jungle for four months and have suspected (minor) leishmaniasis. I m on my second day of flucloxacillin and have noticed that I have a very bloated stomach, and normally I m skinny. Is this normal?!

Hi.
This is normal with Flucloxacilin. After taking this medicine, the normal bacterial flora of the intestine gets disturbed and the balance between the good and bad bacteria is disrupted.
This gets its secondary effect as the gas producing bacteria get upperhand and the gas is produced.
This in turn causes bloating of the stomach/ abdomen.
The treatment is simple.
Take additional probiotic capsules and your problem may be solved.
