Is Blood Test For Kidneys Needed For Swollen Lymph Node Above Collar Bone?

I have a swollen lymph node above each of my collar bones. I had an ultrasound, and now they re asking me to take a blood test for my kidneys and have a CT scan of my lymph nodes. Why would they ask me to do this? My doctor is on vacation, and won t be in till next week. Can you answer my question?

The lymph node usually enlarge followng infecton.Having said that to rule out other hidden pathology in abdomen area like tumor etc they have asked for the investigation.
