Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Rashes in many patients can be confirmed to be from a disease by consulting a doctor. The clinical examination is sufficient to start treatment. Small pox has been eradicated long back and is not a risk. However other causes of rashes like chicken pox is to be thought of.

Blood tests are generally not required unless the doctor suspects a different condition. The medicines will not cause any significant problem to his blood test or treatment. If there is persistent fever with rashes than a complete blood count can be done and this will be decided by the treating doctor. Please give healthy foods and adequate liquids to him to maintain nutrition and prevent dehydration. Please do not worry.
